Get started with Employee Slate

  • Set up Employee Slate by verifying prerequisites, installing plugins, configuring branding, connecting the conversational assistant, and publishing your first announcement.

    About this task

    Employee Slate supports two deployment paths — one with Moveworks and one with Now Assist. The deployment path determines which configuration tasks apply.

    Procedure

    1. Install one of the following sets of plugins from store.
      • For Moveworks deployment path, install Employee Slate for Moveworks and Employee Slate Advanced.
      • For Now Assist deployment path, install Employee Slate for Now Assist and Employee Slate Advanced.
      Note:
      Employee Slate Advanced is an add-on application and requires either Employee Slate for Moveworks or Employee Slate for Now Assist to be separately downloaded.
    2. Configure branding and theme.
      Set the portal name, URL suffix, logos, favicon, and palette colors. Configure from the Appearance module of the Product Configuration console or the admin console. Optionally, Configure additional themes.
    3. Configure tasks and requests.
    4. Configure the home page for Employee Slate to set the default home page layout and Configure the default canvas dashboard to set the personalized canvas.
    5. Search sources for Employee Slate.
    6. Configure the org chart and employee profile.
    7. Configure notifications for Employee Slate and set the content, the trigger conditions, and the recipients.
    8. Configure the Upcoming Holiday widget.
    9. Connect the assistant and configure chat branding in Configure branding and theme.
    10. Optional: Configure the AI widget builder for Employee Slate and build custom widgets as explained in Create a widget with the AI-powered Widget Builder.
    11. Create an announcement for employees to stay engaged with relevant communications.
    12. Optional: Configure the AI widget builder for Employee Slate to set the scope, the role access, and the chat panel and Create a widget with the AI-powered Widget Builder to build custom widgets.
    13. Optional: Roll out to employees and configure analytics.
      Share the portal URL with employees. Track engagement, content performance, and AI assistant quality from Analytics and reporting and see funnels and events from Configure analytics and reporting.

    Result

    After you configure Employee Slate, your employees can go to the following URL.
    https://<instance-name>.service-now.com/aiux/employeeslate/home

    The URL may change based on your configuration in Branding and Theming.
