# Create an external link

# Create an external link {#ariaid-title1}

Create external links to access external resources and content. When creating a quick
link, you can select an external link as the content type to display in a topic.

## Before you begin

Role required: sp_admin, taxonomy_admin, or taxonomy_manager

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllContent TaxonomyExternal Links.
2. Click New.
3. On the form, fill in the fields.

4. Click Save or Submit.

## What to do next

If you click Save, the Available For and Not Available For tabs appear.
