Summary of Configure reservation multi-day settings in Reservable Module
This guide explains how ServiceNow administrators can configure multi-day reservation settings within the Reservable Module. It focuses on setting limits for how far in the future users can create reservations, supporting multi-building selections, and defining the duration parameters for recurring reservations.

Key Features
- Max days in future setting: Administrators set a maximum number of days ahead that users can reserve a space. If this limit is set (for example, 45 days), users cannot select reservation dates beyond this limit, and a warning is shown if they attempt to do so.
- Multi-day reservations: Users can create reservations that span multiple days, including across multiple buildings. The start and end dates define the full reservation period.
- Recurring reservation limits: The allowed end date for recurring reservations depends on the selected recurrence pattern—daily, weekly, or monthly—and respects the max days in future setting.
- Role-based overrides: Reservation planners or space planners with the specific role snwsdrsv.bypassmodulevalidation can bypass restrictions such as max days in future, max occurrences, and duration limits, allowing greater flexibility for managing reservations.
Practical Implications for ServiceNow Customers
- Administrators can control how far ahead employees can book reservable spaces, helping manage resource availability and planning.
- Users benefit from the ability to make extended, multi-day reservations across multiple locations when permitted.
- Configured limits ensure recurring reservations stay within administratively defined boundaries, preventing overbooking or overly long reservations.
- Designated planners with special roles can manage exceptions and complex booking scenarios without restriction.
- If no max days in future is configured, reservation limits depend solely on the max number of occurrences allowed, giving flexibility in booking length.
Related Configuration and Tasks
To fully utilize the Reservable Module’s multi-day reservation features, administrators should also consider related configurations such as:
- Configuring reservable modules and views
- Assigning spaces and areas appropriately
- Creating user criteria and reservable purposes
- Managing check-in/out and automatic check-in features
- Integrating with virtual meeting providers like Microsoft Teams and Zoom
These configurations ensure seamless management, booking, and utilization of workplace spaces aligned with organizational policies and user needs.
Set the Max days in future value for configuring reservation.
The option to create a multi-day reservation is configured by your administrator using the Max days for multi-day Reservable Module Configuration property. For more information, see Configure a reservable module. Multi-building selection is supported for multi-day reservation. For more information about multi-day reservation, see Create a multi-day reservation.
For multi-day reservation covering multiple days, the start date and end date span across multiple days (for example, Start date: October 12, 2023. End date: October 17, 2023). For more information, see Create a multi-day reservation.
- If your administrator has set a limit on the maximum days that you can reserve in future, you can’t select days in the future beyond the set the date by the admin. A warning is displayed about the limitation.
- For example, if your administrator has limited the days of future to 45 days, you can’t select a date beyond 45 days while making a recurring reservation. The number of days available for End on this date option differs based on the Daily, Weekly, or Monthly selections. The end date and time specified for recurring reservation are used to indicate the end date and time of the reservation.
- If no such limitation is set by your administrator on the future days in the Reservable module, you can select any date. This also depends on how many occurrences you can select and make.Note:You can't select a date beyond a duration that is configured in the Max days in the future reservable module. For example, if Max days in future value are 45, you can’t select a date beyond this duration while making a recurring reservation. The number of days available for End on this date option differs based on the Daily, Weekly, or Monthly selections. If the Max days in future value isn’t configured on the Reservable module, the date selection isn’t restricted and employees can select a date based on the Max number of occurrences configuration.
Space and reservation planners (sn_wsd_rsv.reservation_planner) with the dedicated role (sn_wsd_rsv.bypass_module_validation) can ignore or bypass certain settings in the Reservable module configuration. For more information, see Allow Event planners to handle reservations with more flexibility.
