# Disable favorites

# Disable favorites {#ariaid-title1}

Enable or disable the favorites options to display the favorites icon and access your favorites list for quick use. Favorites functionality is enabled by default on Employee Center and MESP.

## Before you begin

Role required: admin

## About this task

Using the Favorites option, you can do the following:

* Display the favorite icon on the supported content types in portal and app.
* Display the My Favorites menu item in the portal header.
* Access the list of all your favorites that are bookmarked for quick reference from the menu item.

Note:  
For portals other than EC and MESP, you can enable the favorites option by selecting the Enable favorites from Service PortalPortalsEmployee CenterQuick start config.Use the following steps to disable the favorites option.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllEmployee CenterAdministrationPortal configuration.
2. Edit the portal to suit your needs.  
   For more information on the portal form fields and description, see [Create a portal](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=create-a-portal&version=xanadu&pubname=xanadu-platform-user-interface&ft:locale=en-US).
3. On the Employee Center portal, deselect the Enable favorites option to disable My favorites in the portal.  
   On MESP, Favorites is enabled by default.  
   Note:  
   To disable Favorites on MESP, contact support.

## Result

The Favorite functionality is turned off.
