Summary of Move project views, actions, and states

As a move manager in ServiceNow, you can efficiently create, track, and manage multiple move requests grouped into a single move project. This enables you to work with a consolidated schedule view, which streamlines managing moves compared to handling individual requests. The move project logically groups requests based on specified criteria, allowing you to view and manage all associated moves collectively.

    Key Features

    • Schedule View: The default interactive calendar displays move requests as bars on the calendar, showing expected start and due dates according to your local time zone. You can view request details, drag bars to reschedule moves, and switch between weekly and monthly views.
    • List View: An alternative to the calendar, this view lists all move requests with details such as request number, state, relevant dates, and assigned project. It supports selecting and removing multiple requests or assigning requests to yourself.
    • Move Project Details: Includes project name, assigned move manager, and state. You can reassign the project, change its state, track activity history, and add private work notes.
    • Adding Move Requests: You can add multiple move requests to a project anytime while its state is “Work in progress.”
    • Move Dates: Project start and end dates are dynamically calculated based on the earliest expected start date and latest due date among all associated move requests.
    • Attachments: View and manage attachments related to the move project.

    Move Project States

    • Initializing: Set when the project is created and move requests are still being added.
    • Ready: Indicates the project is prepared with all matching move requests.
    • Work in progress: State when actively working on the move project.
    • Closed complete: Set when all assigned move requests are fulfilled (marked Inactive). The project becomes locked except for reassigning and state changes.
    • Closed incomplete: Allows closing the project regardless of request status; project becomes locked except for reassigning and state changes. The move requests remain unaffected.
    • Cancelled: The project can be cancelled anytime, locking edits except for assignment and state updates. Move requests remain unaffected.

    Benefits for ServiceNow Customers

Using move projects, customers can efficiently coordinate and track multiple move requests in one place with easy scheduling and state management. The schedule view accelerates planning by visualizing move workloads over time, while flexible state transitions support various project lifecycle scenarios. This functionality improves move management efficiency, clarity, and accountability within your organization.

As a move manager, create, track, and work on move projects to fulfill multiple move requests at a time. The move project enables you to work using a schedule view, which is faster than opening individual move requests.

A Move project enables you to logically group move requests based on the specified conditions. You can view all the move requests under a single move project.

Using the Move project's Schedule view, you can:
    • Verify the user who raised the move request.
    • View the current state of that move request.
    • View and edit the expected start and due date by when the request must be fulfilled. The dates are displayed on a calendar.
    • Check the number of move requests to be fulfilled every day.
    • Schedule a move request to another date by simply dragging the bar of the request.

    Move dates

The following process explains how the start and end dates of a move project are determined:

    1. An employee or a move manager raises a move request. They specify a date in the Requested move date field.
    2. When the move requests are collated in the Move Management workspace, they’re displayed with the Requested move date, Expected start, and Due date.
    3. The planned start and end date of the move project are set based on the minimum Expected start date and the maximum Due date from the move requests that are associated with the project.

    Move project views

When you select a move project to work, it’s opened in a separate tab. It’s opened in the schedule view by default. You can edit and view the move project details in different views.
