Azure Service Bus Namespace pattern-based discovery
Summarize
Summary of Azure Service Bus Namespace pattern-based discovery
Azure Service Bus Namespace pattern-based discovery in ServiceNow enables automated detection and mapping of Azure Service Bus namespaces within your cloud environment. This capability is part of the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application, which requires the latest version to ensure full support. The discovery process populates data into both CMDB and non-CMDB tables, facilitating comprehensive asset and configuration management for Azure resources.

Key Features
- Pattern Activation: The Azure Service Bus Namespace discovery pattern is disabled by default. Activation is straightforward and, starting with Visibility Content version 6.28.0, enabling or disabling patterns is not treated as customization, ensuring smooth updates.
- GovCloud Support: Discovery supports Azure GovCloud (US), requiring specific configuration of the Azure service account using a datacenter URL during setup.
- Data Population: Discovered data is stored in:
- Non-CMDB tables: When running the Azure - Service Bus Namespace - Extended Inventory (LP) pattern, details are stored in specific Azure non-CMDB tables accessible via the Configuration section.
- CMDB tables: Key resource information is stored in the Cloud Resource [cmdbcicmpresource] table, capturing status, location, identity, and resource type details.
- CI Relationships: The pattern automatically establishes relationships between discovered resources, such as resource groups, datacenters, and service bus namespaces, supporting accurate configuration item (CI) mapping.
- Tag Discovery: Tags associated with Azure resources are collected and stored in the Key Value [cmdbkeyvalue] table, enabling enhanced resource categorization and filtering.
Practical Benefits for ServiceNow Customers
By leveraging this pattern-based discovery, customers can:
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date visibility of Azure Service Bus namespaces in their CMDB.
- Maintain compliance and operational awareness through integrated status and relationship mapping.
- Customize discovery schedules to include Azure GovCloud environments.
- Utilize tag information for better asset management and reporting.
- Benefit from seamless updates to discovery patterns without losing configuration settings.
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns finds Azure services on your cloud environment. Discovering some of these resources may require updating to the latest version of the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application from the ServiceNow Store.
Pattern-based discovery and mapping requirements
- Verify the Microsoft Azure discovery prerequisites
- For more information, see the prerequisites section in Microsoft Azure Cloud components discovery using patterns.
- Enable the relevant pattern
- The pattern for this service is disabled by default. Starting with Visibility Content version 6.28.0, activating or deactivating a pattern won't be considered a customization, and it will continue to receive updates. Patterns that were previously activated or deactivated will reset to the latest predefined version after upgrading while retaining the last active field value. For more information on enabling patterns, see Activate a disabled pattern.
- Configure the Discovery schedule to support GovCloud
- Discovering Azure GovCloud (US) accounts requires using a datacenter URL when setting up an Azure service account. For more information, see Set up Azure service accounts.
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application populates data in both CMDB and non-CMDB tables.
Data stored in non-CMDB tables
Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application populates data in the non-CMDB table when running the Azure - Service Bus Namespace - Extended Inventory(LP) pattern.
You can review the non-CMDB Azure tables by navigating to . You can also search the navigation filter for the specific pattern name.
