Alert rules enable you to set thresholds and conditions that determine when Health Log Analytics triggers an alert. When the conditions of an alert rule are met, the system generates a Log Analytics alert. You can add, change, or delete alert rules to create Log Analytics alerts for a specified metric.
In Health Log Analytics, alert rules enable you to specify when alerts are triggered. By using these rules, you ensure that an alert is generated when certain conditions are met, enabling proactive monitoring and
remediation of emerging issues. You can create alert rules when you encounter log data that should trigger an alert, and modify or delete alert rules that you have defined.
You can perform the following tasks related to alert rules:

* [Add a Log Analytics alert rule](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/JVsZQdN4JbHz1BYwxASuWw "Define a Log Analytics alert rule when you encounter log data that should generate an alert. The alert rule generates an alert for a specified metric with a threshold that you specify and sets the properties of the generated alert.")

Add a Log Analytics alert rule when you come across log data that should generate an alert.
* [Modify a defined Log Analytics alert rule](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/rKNcYTeyRFZgBamnXUYphw "Modify a Log Analytics alert rule that you have defined.")

Edit a Log Analytics alert rule that you have defined.
* [Delete a defined Log Analytics alert rule](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/cIgyx86V~Vb2q7FC2eLf0Q "Delete a Log Analytics alert rule that you have defined if it is no longer necessary.")

Delete a Log Analytics alert rule that you have defined if it's no longer needed.
