Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns finds Azure Hosts on your cloud environment. Discovering some of these resources may require updating to the latest version of the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application from the ServiceNow Store.

## Pattern-based discovery and mapping requirements {#azure-host-pattern__section_rpj_fj2_bgc}

Verify the Azure discovery prerequisites section in [Microsoft Azure Cloud components discovery using patterns](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/JeDZ0tlC9eLF5fei5qSv3w "Discovery uses multiple patterns to discover components of the Microsoft Azure Cloud deployment during horizontal discovery. Discovering some of these resources may require updating to the latest version of the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns application from the ServiceNow Store.").

## Data collected by Discovery during horizontal discovery {#azure-host-pattern__section_ggp_ql2_bgc}

Discovery populates the data in the CMDB when running the Azure - Host (LP) pattern.

## CI relationships {#azure-host-pattern__section_dc4_ghc_dgc}

The Azure - Host (LP) pattern creates these relationships to support Azure Host discovery.

| CI | Relationship | CI |
|-|-|-|
| Host \[cmdb_ci_cloud_host\] | Hosted on::Hosts | Azure Datacenter \[cmdb_ci_azure_datacenter\] |
| Resource Group \[cmdb_ci_resource_group\] | Contains::Contained by | Host \[cmdb_ci_cloud_host\] |
| Virtual Machine Instance \[cmdb_ci_vm_instance\] | Runs on::Runs | Host \[cmdb_ci_cloud_host\] |
| Key Value \[cmdb_key_value\] | References | Host \[cmdb_ci_cloud_host\] or Virtual Machine Instance \[cmdb_ci_vm_instance\] |

## Azure Tag discovery {#azure-host-pattern__section_lyw_zhc_dgc}

The pattern extension sections discover Bring Your Own License (BYOL) or the included licenses for Windows VMs, and collect Azure resource tags from Hosts.

| Field | Description |
|-|-|
| Key \[key\] | The key is one of the following options: * Tags: Azure resource tag name * License: Windows_OS_License_Type_automatic |
