Discovery identifies and classifies information about Microsoft IIS servers.

## Prerequisites {#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__section_jk4_gpj_mz}

Install IIS Management Scripts and Tools on a Microsoft IIS Server.

## Credentials {#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__section_uhh_j4j_mz}

Configure these credentials:

* [Applicative
  credentials](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=applicative-creds&version=yokohama&pubname=yokohama-platform-security&ft:locale=en-US)
* [Windows credentials](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=r_WindowsCredentialsForm&version=yokohama&pubname=yokohama-platform-security&ft:locale=en-US)

## Classifier, pattern, and probe {#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__section_cqp_j4j_mz}

Note:
For information on Probe to Pattern migration see the knowledge article [KB0694477](https://support.servicenow.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0694477).
Discovery uses these classifiers, probes, and patterns for IIS discovery:{#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__table_fzd_2yv_jz__entry__3}

| Classifier | Trigger probes | Pattern |
|-|-|-|
| Microsoft IIS Server | * Horizontal discovery probe: launches patterns * Windows - Get IIS Information\* {#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__ul_ixv_myv_jz} | IIS |
[ ]

{#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__table_fzd_2yv_jz}\*Probes inactive on new instances.

To use patterns, verify that the correct pattern is specified in the horizontal pattern probe on the classifier. See [Add the Horizontal Pattern probe to a classifier](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/F1AaGd2A7GKs7d9ZAQQp5w#t_AddHorizontalPatternProbe "To use a pattern for the identification and exploration phases of horizontal discovery, you must add the Horizontal Pattern probe to the classifiers for the CIs are you trying to discover.") for instructions.

## Data collected by Discovery for IIS Web Server {#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__section_yls_xrv_xjc}

The following data is collected in the IIS Web Server \[cmdb_ci_microsoft_iis_web_server\] table.{#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__table_kdx_w5j_mz__entry__2}

| Label | Field name |
|-|-|
| Name | name |
| Version | version |
| Type\* | type |
| Running process command | running_process_command |
| Running process key parameters | running_process_key_parameters |
[ ]

{#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__table_kdx_w5j_mz}\*The Type is always IIS.
The following data is collected in the Web site \[cmdb_ci_web_site\] table.{#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__table_dc5_dvj_mz__entry__3}

| Label | Field name | Source |
|-|-|-|
| Name | name | wmi |
| TCP Port | tcp_port | wmi |
[ ]

## Connections found by Service Mapping during top-down discovery {#r_DataCollDiscoMicrosoftIISServers__section_iis_connections_sm}

When top-down discovery reaches an IIS server, Service Mapping identifies the specific website and application or virtual directory serving the entry point, not just the IIS server itself. Service Mapping creates a connection from the entry point to the matching IIS Virtual Directory \[cmdb_ci_iisdirectory\] CI. The resulting service map shows the application running on IIS rather than a generic
host-level node.
