# Stop extraction of unneeded log data

If an extracted string of data is not descriptive enough or contains redundant text
or information, you can set Health Log Analytics to stop extracting such data
from your logs.

## Before you begin

Role required: evt_mgmt_admin

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllHealth Log AnalyticsMappingExcluded values.
2. Select New.
3. In the Value to exclude field, enter the string that you want Health Log Analytics to stop extracting.
4. **Optional:** Further specify the values to stop extracting by selecting additional options:  
   * Starts with
   * Ends with
   * Contains
   * Case sensitive
   {#hla-log-data-exclude__ul_dfn_rm4_3nb}
5. **Optional:** In the Description field, add a description of the value.
6. Select Submit.
