Approve or reject outside counsel engagement request

    • As a practice area lead, approve the outside counsel engagement request.

    Before you begin

    Role required: sn_lg_matter.matter_fulfiller, sn_lg_ops.legal_fulfiller

    Procedure

    1. Open the outside counsel engagement approval request.
      MethodAction
      Using Legal Counsel Center homepage
      1. Navigate to All > Legal Request > Legal Counsel Center
      2. Select the View All option on the Pending approvals widget.
      3. From the list, open the record for approval.
      Using Legal Counsel Center lists
      1. Navigate to All > Legal Request > Legal Counsel Center
      2. Select the list icon (List icon).
      3. In the Lists tab, navigate to My Work > Items Pending Approval.
      4. From the list, open the record for approval.
      Using platform view
      1. Navigate to All > Self Service > My approvals
      2. From the list, open the record for approval.
    2. Review the record and either approve or reject:
      • To approve the outside counsel engagement approval request, in the State field, select Approved.
        Note:
        When the outside counsel engagement request is approved and the details for Legal Tracker is filled and no task created for it, the outside counsel engagement request is automatically submitted for integration.
      • To reject the outside counsel engagement approval request, in the State field, select Rejected.
        Note:
        When the Practice Area lead rejects the request with the details, the record is sent back to the fulfiller. The state of the record is changed to Rejected. The fulfiller must update the record according to the comment provided and again send the request for approval.
    3. Select Save.
      If you are using the platform view, select Update.

    Option to create a task for entering Legal Tracker field details was selected Legal Tracker details is already filled
    On approval of the outside counsel engagement request, a task is created for filling in the Legal Tracker details.
    • On approval of the outside counsel engagement request, an integration with Legal Tracker is automatically initiated.
    • On successful integration, the matter created in Legal Tracker will be accessible to the following users with Matter Admin role
      • Matter Owner - User selected as owner of the legal matter.
      • Requested for - User for whom the outside counsel engagement request is submitted.
      • Lead Outside Counsel – User selected as lead outside counsel of the associated Lead firm.
      • Lead company person - User selected as lead of the organization who should coordinate with the outside counsel.
      • #2 company person - User selected as alternative contact person in the absence of the Lead company person.
      • Practice Area leads - One or more users who can approve the Outside Counsel Engagement request.

    What to do next

    If a task was created to fill in the Legal Tracker details, you need to fill in the details and submit the outside counsel engagement request for integration with Legal Tracker.
