## Summary of Tracing systems in Emergency Exposure Management

Tracing systems in Emergency Exposure Management allow ServiceNow customers to identify potentially exposed employees by querying multiple contact tracing data sources through diagnostic requests.
These requests analyze interactions and shared locations of affected employees to help organizations quickly identify and manage exposure risks within the workplace.
Customers can customize tracing systems with available data sources or create new ones to broaden their exposure coverage.

## Key Features

* **Multiple Data Source Integration:** Diagnostic requests can use one or more tracing systems simultaneously to enhance exposure identification coverage.
* **Parent and Child Tracing Systems:** Tracing systems can be grouped hierarchically, such as combining multiple Wi-Fi data sources (e.g., Cisco DNA Spaces and Mist Systems) under a parent Wi-Fi access log system.
* **Pre-configured and Customizable Systems:** Emergency Exposure Management includes default active tracing systems and additional systems available through other Safe Workplace and Emergency Response Operations applications that require activation and configuration.

## Tracing Systems Included and Their Use Cases

* **Emergency Exposure Management Default Systems:**
  * **Location:** Identifies employees co-located with the affected employee (e.g., same floor or building).
  * **Outlook Meetings:** Finds employees who accepted the same meetings as the affected employee within a specified time.
* **Workplace Core Tracing System (requires activation):**
  * **Workplace Reservations:** Finds employees who had workplace reservations overlapping with the affected employee's shifts.
* **Contact Tracing Systems (require activation and configuration):**
  * **Badge Reader:** Queries badge swipe logs to find employees using the same badge readers.
  * **Employee Daily Log:** Identifies employees recorded in daily contact logs with the affected employee.
  * **Visitor Log:** Finds visitors who interacted with the affected employee; requires Employee Health Screening installation.
  * **Wi-Fi Access Log:** Uses Wi-Fi access point data to identify employees sharing locations; supports integrations with Mist Systems and Cisco DNA Spaces.
  * **Handheld/Wearables:** Tracks proximity of employees equipped with wearable devices like Zebra MotionWorks and Kinexon SafeZone devices.
* **Field Service Management Tracing System (requires activation):**
  * **Field Service:** Identifies customers attended by affected field agents and other agents who interacted with them or visited the same customers.

## Practical Considerations for ServiceNow Customers

* Several tracing systems require installation of additional applications (e.g., Safe Workplace suite, Contact Tracing, Workplace Core) and activation before use.
* Data availability and retention depend on integrated third-party systems, such as Wi-Fi providers or wearable device platforms.
* Configuring and customizing tracing systems enables broader and more accurate exposure identification tailored to an organization's data sources.
A tracing system configured for a contact tracing data source enables you to identify
potentially exposed employees by running a diagnostic request.
The diagnostic request for an affected employee queries the contact tracing data to
identify people who might have interacted with the affected employee. You can select
multiple tracing systems in a diagnostic request to use multiple data sources to broaden the
coverage used to find potential exposure.

A tracing system can be a group of other tracing systems with a similar type of input data
source. For example, say you have Wi-Fi access data integration with multiple systems such
as Cisco DNA Spaces and Mist Systems. You could have a tracing system called Wi-Fi access
log and make it the parent tracing system of other tracing systems using the Wi-Fi input
data sources.

You can customize the tracing systems for data sources available in Emergency Exposure Management or set up a new tracing system. For more
information, see [Set up a tracing system for an exposure data source](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/xRzDVP~nwbnF0oPkbzw1XQ "Set up a tracing system for your exposure data source to identify potentially exposed employees by running the diagnostic requests for an affected employee.").

For some tracing systems to be available in Emergency Exposure Management,
you must install other Safe Workplace suite and Emergency Response Operations applications.
