Summary of Managing SPM work in Collaborative Work Management
ServiceNow's Collaborative Work Management (CWM) enables team members to view and update project and demand tasks directly within CWM, without needing access to Project Workspace or Next Experience for Demand Management. This simplifies task management by allowing team members to work through familiar CWM features while maintaining appropriate access controls.

Team Member Roles and Permissions
CWM provides specific roles for team members to control task access:
- Team member read: Allows viewing project and demand tasks and adding comments.
- Team member read-write: Allows viewing and editing project and demand tasks.
Assigning either role automatically grants users both the CWM user and Time card user roles, enabling task management and timecard submission within CWM.
Managing Tasks in CWM
Once assigned a team member role, users can access and manage their tasks via:
- My Work: A consolidated view of all project and demand tasks assigned to the user.
- Connected Work: Allows users to pull relevant project and demand tasks into customizable CWM Boards, where tasks can be edited and updated directly.
Administrators can apply additional Access Control Lists (ACLs) to further refine task visibility and editing rights.
Calendar Access
Team members with these roles can access their personal calendars with the ability to:
- View and edit their calendar
- Create and delete their own events
Users only see events they have personally created.
Considerations
- Team member roles do not provide access to Project Workspace or Next Experience for Demand Management directly.
- SPM applications such as Project Workspace and Next Experience for Demand Management must be installed in your ServiceNow AI Platform instance to enable task access from CWM.
- The Timecard Management application must be installed for team members to create and submit timecards against project and demand tasks.
