# Add internal project task dependencies from Project Workspace {#ariaid-title1}

Create dependencies between project tasks using the interactive UI of Project Workspace.

## Before you begin

Verify that you have the Dependency Lines toggle enabled on the settings of the timeline. For information on how to update the settings, see [Personalize the planning page view in Project Workspace](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/d1xgQIDlV35mmoC3O7qlbw "Customize the display of the planning page. Choose the data you want to see on the data grid and the timeline.").

Role required: it_project_manager

## Procedure

1. Select a project to open it from the planning page.  
   For information on how to navigate to the planning page, see [Access the Project Workspace](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/NizzG8MYmtX6E2dj4LyjPw "Learn how to navigate to the new Project Workspace and open a project in the planning page.").
2. Create task dependencies in one of the following ways.

   | Option | Action |
   | From the data grid | Use the dependency type-ahead feature. 1. Double-click (or use the keyboard shortcut) the dependency cell of the project task. 2. Select the task to set as a dependency to this task. 3. Select the type of dependency to be applied. 4.    | From the timeline view | Draw a dependency line. 1. Place the cursor on the task bar for which you want to create the dependency. 2. Draw a line from the circle on one end of the bar and drop it on the circle of the dependent task bar. {#create-dependencies-for-project-tasks-from-project-workspace__ol_t2j_yxy_hsb} |

   The created dependency is shown as a line between the two task bars, on the timeline view.
