Key Features
The dashboard extracts data from the Application Domain [snaccviscontentapplicationdomain] table and offers several interactive visualizations to analyze web usage:
- All visited URLs (Data count): Shows the total number of URLs visited on managed devices since a selected date. Available only when Broad discovery is enabled.
- Top 5 URLs with the most visits (Bar chart): Displays the five most visited URLs over the selected timeframe.
- Targeted URLs visited by category (Donut chart): Visualizes the distribution of targeted URL visits grouped by category. Data updates daily via aggregation jobs.
- Targeted URLs visited (Table): Lists URLs configured for monitoring, allowing detailed inspection and filtering.
- Other URLs visited (Broad URLs list): Shows URLs accessed on devices but not currently targeted; available only with broad URL discovery enabled.
Practical Use and Configuration
ServiceNow customers can add URLs from the "Other URLs visited" list to their targeted monitoring list directly within the dashboard. When adding a URL to targeted discovery, users must specify:
- Whether the domain is internal or external (default: External)
- URL category
- Associated product
- Publisher
- Application service linked to the domain
Once saved, these URLs become part of targeted monitoring and appear in the targeted URLs section for ongoing analysis. Note that mapping a Software Asset Management (SAM) product to a URL requires the samuser role.
Benefits for ServiceNow Customers
This dashboard enables customers to:
- Gain visibility into the web domains accessed on their managed devices.
- Identify popular and critical URLs by visit frequency and category.
- Customize monitoring by targeting specific URLs of interest and adding new ones from discovered data.
- Make informed decisions about web usage policies and software asset management through integration with SAM products.
