Key Features
- Enhanced Access Control for OT: Implements data filters, deny-unless access control rules, and ACL query rules to strengthen system security around OT data access.
- Operational Technology Network Map: Available in the Industrial Workspace, this feature provides a visual map to explore OT network sites, their subnets, and associated OT devices, enhancing network insight and troubleshooting.
- CMDB OT Class Model Updates: New related lists for IP Network Subnets and VLANs have been added to the OT device forms and various CMDB classes, enabling users to see detailed subnet and VLAN associations directly on device records.
- UI and Process Enhancements:
- The Automated IT OT Bulk Conversion feature has been renamed to Automated IT OT Bulk Contextualization to better reflect its capabilities.
- Banner messages and form views have been updated for clearer guidance during bulk update processes and OT device detail viewing.
- Admin Role Granularity: New granular admin roles allow developers to perform specific administrative tasks without full admin privileges, enhancing security and delegation capabilities.
Changes and Limitations
- When adding OT context to IT Configuration Items (CIs) using CMDB groups, only one group can be used per Automated IT OT Bulk Contextualization record.
- The Automated IT OT Bulk Contextualization scheduled job processes a maximum of 10,000 CIs per run, with overflow handled in subsequent runs.
- The “New” button has been removed from certain related lists (Network Adapters, Memory Modules, Software Installed, IP Addresses) for users with read-only site access, to maintain data integrity.
Activation and Related Applications
Operational Technology Manager is available for installation through the ServiceNow Store. Customers can request the application and find cumulative release information via the store's version history. The application automatically installs the latest OT extension classes via the CMDB CI Class Models app, which facilitates importing and classifying OT device data within ServiceNow.
The ServiceNow® Operational Technology Manager application enables you to aggregate Operational Technology (OT) device data from multiple sources so you can build foundational data relationships in the Industrial solution. Operational Technology Manager was enhanced and updated in the Australia release.
Operational Technology Manager highlights for the Australia release
- Help promote system security by using Enhanced Access Control for OT.
- Get a deeper look into your OT network with the OT network map in the Industrial Workspace, where you can view a site, its subnets, and the OT devices in each subnet.
- Keep your OT device data updated by using the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) OT class model updates and UI enhancements.

- Early Availability
- Operational Technology Network Map
- Use the OT network map available in the Industrial Workspace to view the subnets of a site and the OT devices in each subnet.
- CMDB OT class model updates
- Configure for your OT devices with the following CMDB OT class model updates:
- The IP Network Subnets related list was added to IT devices in the OT view. The list shows all subnets related to the device and IP Network subnets for the selected OT device.
-
The IP Network Subnets related list was added to the following CMDB classes:
- cmdb_ci_display
- cmdb_ci_firewall_network
- cmdb_ci_security
- cmdb_ci_ids_network
- cmdb_ci_imaging
- cmdb_ci_unclassed_hardware
- cmdb_ci_multimedia
- cmdb_ci_monitor_control
- cmdb_ci_aix_server
- cmdb_ci_computer
- cmdb_ci_esx_server
- cmdb_ci_hardware
- cmdb_ci_hpux_server
- cmdb_ci_hyper_v_server

- cmdb_ci_win_server
- You can now view the OT device details for the following CMDB classes:
- cmdb_ci_esx_server
- cmdb_ci_hyper_v_server
- Because the OT device details are included in the form view of the CMDB class table, the OT device details tab was removed for the following CMDB classes:
- cmdb_ci_aix_server
- cmdb_ci_hpux_server
- cmdb_ci_pc_hardware
- cmdb_ci_hyper_v_server
- cmdb_ci_esx_server
