To utilize Now Assist for SPO, customers must configure the application within their ServiceNow environment. This setup enables the integration of AI-driven conversational guidance tailored to procurement processes.
Availability and Restrictions
- Not all AI model providers or Now Assist features are available to customers with in-country SKUs, or those operating under certain regulatory or security environments such as FedRAMP, NSC DOD IL5, Australia IRAP-Protected data centers, or self-hosted instances.
- Availability varies by region and regulated markets, with some AI products and skills restricted accordingly.
- Customers should consult the ServiceNow Knowledge Base articles and release notes for updates on feature and model provider availability.
AI Limitations and Responsible Use
The application leverages AI and machine learning, which may sometimes produce incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate responses. Customers are responsible for testing and validating AI outputs for accuracy and suitability before use, especially in critical areas such as healthcare, finance, legal, security, and infrastructure. Human oversight is strongly recommended, and reliance solely on AI-generated outputs for decisions is discouraged.
Usage must comply with ServiceNow’s AI Acceptable Use Policy, which can be updated by ServiceNow over time.
Data Processing and Privacy
- Data inputted by customers is transferred from their ServiceNow instances to centralized ServiceNow environments, which may be in different geographic regions or hosted by third-party cloud providers like Microsoft Azure.
- This data is managed according to ServiceNow’s internal policies and compliance standards outlined in the CORE Compliance Portal.
- ServiceNow collects inputs, outputs, and edits from the application to improve AI technologies. Customers can opt out of future data collection via the Now Assist Opt-Out page.

Further, there is no guarantee that this application has been fully trained or tested for your use case. To mitigate these issues, it is your responsibility to test and evaluate your use of this application for accuracy, harm, and appropriateness for your use case, employ human oversight of output, and refrain from relying solely on AI-generated outputs for decision-making purposes. This is especially important if you choose to deploy this application in areas with consequential impacts such as healthcare, finance, legal, employment, security, or infrastructure. You agree to abide by ServiceNow’s AI Acceptable Use Policy, which may be updated by ServiceNow.
