Add an MCP server from the MCP Catalog

  • Add an MCP server from the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Catalog in the AI Control Tower.

    Before you begin

    Role required: sn_ai_governance.ai_steward

    Note:
    The AI steward (sn_ai_governance.ai_steward) role gets inherited with the following roles:
    • (AI admin) sn_aia.admin
    • (AIG admin) aig_admin
    • (MCP Client admin) sn_mcp_client.admin

    Procedure

    1. Navigate to AI assets > AI asset inventory > MCP servers.
    2. Select Add.
    3. Select Choose from MCP Catalog.
    4. Search for a server using the search field, or browse available MCP servers displayed as cards with icons, descriptions, and versions.
    5. Verify the server to view the details including:
      • MCP server URL
      • Transport type
      • Available tools and capabilities
    6. Import the server by selecting Select.
      Note:
      The system auto-fills the Name, MCP server URL, Authentication type, and Transport type.
    7. Confirm your server and endpoint selections by selecting OK.
      Note:
      Add any additional details.
    8. Select Submit.

      The MCP server is submitted to the AI steward for review.

      Note:
      You can add only one MCP server at a time.

    Result

    The MCP server is added to AI Control Tower with the status of In review and synced to AI Agent Studio within 15 minutes.
