Create a multi-building scenario
Create a scenario with multiple buildings and locations. Space planners can efficiently manage and visualize space allocations across multiple buildings. Realign space allocations for accurate planning, optimum space usage, and informed decision-making.
Before you begin
- Indoor Mapping for map-based administration.
- Workplace Core
- Workplace Central
- Workplace Stack Plan
- Workplace Service Delivery components
- Workplace Case Management
- Workplace Space Management
Role required: sn_wsd_spcmgmt.space_planner
Procedure

Navigate to any one of the following locations:
- All > Workplace Central > Workplace Central.
- All > Scenario Planning > My Scenario Plans.

Select the Space Optimization icon (
).
The Space optimization home page opens. -
Select Create a scenario from the following options.
Path Action From the Scenarios list section Select Create scenario. From the Buildings section - Select the building for which you want to create a scenario.
- After the stack plan view of the building opens, select Create scenario.
The Create new scenario page opens with the Details tab open by default. - On the Scenario details form, fill in the fields.

Select Save scenario.
The Scenarios page shows a list of scenarios. The following message is displayed: Your scenario is getting created. Refresh to update the status.
A scenario at this stage is in the Processing state and then it moves to the Draft state. This process can take some time to complete. You can’t open a scenario that is in the Processing state.
Table 1. Scenarios Field Description Name Scenario name. Location Location name. For example, multiple building names are displayed for a multi-building scenario. Group by Department, cost center, or workplace entity by which the scenario is allocated. For more information, see Allocate a cost center, department, or workplace entity.
State Scenario state. Scenario initially is in the Processing state when it’s being saved. You can select open a scenario only when it is in the Draft state. For more information, see Scenario and Building - Views, states, settings, and key features.
Owned by Name of the scenario owner. For example, administrator. -
Select the Refresh icon (
) to check if your scenario has moved to the Draft state.

Select and open the scenario after it moves to the Draft state.
By default, the draft scenario opens in the Stack plan tab.
- Optional:
Select the Details tab.
The Details page shows the Name, Group by, Locations, Owned by, and the Space selection criteria with pre-filled values (values that were provided while creating a scenario).Space allocation is based on the allocation type or Group by option. In the Details tab, you can’t change the Group by or allocation type and Space Selection Criteria after a scenario moves to the Draft state.

The Stack plan tab is selected by default when you open a draft scenario.
- The title shows the Building names that are part of the multi-building scenario.
- All the buildings appear vertically in a list form with accordions to hide or show the floors and spaces within a building. For more information, see Edit and view a multi-building scenario in Stack plan.

Select the Floor map tab to view and edit a scenario using floor maps.
Warning:Confirm that you have configured Indoor Mapping as your map provider. For more information, see Customize the map properties.
