Enterprise Architecture (EA) extended shapes
Use the Enterprise Architecture shapes to model current and future-state architectures in Enterprise Architecture Workspace.
EA Extended shapes in Enterprise Modeling and Visualization
You can add a shape to the canvas by either selecting the shape or by dragging the shape from the Shapes
You can also adjust the size of shapes by selecting a shape and then drag any of its edges or corner handles. Pulling outward increases the shape's dimensions, while dragging inward reduces its size.
Note:
Connector ports on EA Extended shapes are bi-directional. You can use any connector port—top, bottom, left, or right—as either an input or an output when connecting shapes in a diagram.
| Shape name | Description |
|---|---|
| Control |
Represents a specific safeguard or mechanism implemented to mitigate risk or ensure conformance with policies, standards, or regulations.Used in EA to model governance and conformance frameworks. Links to GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) processes and associated risks. |
| Digital Integration |
Represents a logical integration point between systems or applications, enabling data exchange and interoperability. Models integration architecture for APIs, middleware, and connectors. Supports visualization of system dependencies and data flows. |
| Digital Interface |
Represents a user-facing or system-facing interface that enables interaction with applications or services. Captures UI/UX components or machine interfaces in EA diagrams. Links to applications and integration points for usability analysis. |
| GRC Risk |
Represents a risk item identified within Governance, Risk, and Compliance processes, associated with business or IT operations. Enables risk modeling and impact analysis in EA. Links to controls, processes, and assets for mitigation planning. |
| Product Capability |
Represents a specific functional capability offered by a product, and supporting business or technical needs. Helps architects map product features to business capabilities. Enables capability-based planning and product portfolio analysis. |
| TRM Product |
A Technology Reference Model (TRM) Product represents a standardized technology component or product category defined in the TRM framework. Provides a reference for technology standardization and conformance. Supports technology lifecycle and roadmap planning. |
