Enroll as a mentor or mentee

  • Enroll as a mentor or mentee to learn from your peers in new ways.

    Before you begin

    Role required: none

    Procedure

    1. Navigate to All > Employee Center > Your career > Mentoring.
    2. Select Get started.
    3. Select one from the following options:
      • I want to be a mentee
      • I want to be a mentor
      Note:
      You can do both, but you will have to enroll as a mentee and mentor separately.
    4. Select Next and answer the questions that appear in the wizard.

    Add mentee preferences

    As a mentee, add your preferences to find the right mentor to guide you through your career.

    Before you begin

    Enroll as a mentee. For more information, see Enroll as a mentor or mentee

    Role required: none

    Procedure

    1. On the mentee preferences wizard, answer the required questions.
    2. Use the Search skills option to add skills that a mentor can help you with.
      To add skills, see Search and add skills.
    3. Select Next.
    4. On the What are you looking for from your mentor? question, set preferences that will help you match with the right mentor.
      Note:
      Select at least one preference.

      Preference Description
      What industry expertise would you like your mentor to have? Options available are:
      • Aerospace
      • Artificial Intelligence
      • Accounting
      • Financial Services
      • Consumer Goods
      • Health Care
      • Telecommunications
      • Government Administration
      What topics of interest would you like to focus on with your mentor? Options available are:
      • Developing Career Path
      • Leadership Development
      • Problem Solving
      • Harnessing Feedback
      • Decision Making
      • Networking
      What communities would you like your mentor to be involved in? Options available are:
      • Women in the workspace
      • BIPOC employee resource group
      • LGBTQ+ employee resource group
      • Veterans
      • Working Parents
      • Career Beginners
    5. Select Next.
    6. On the What are some of your other mentor preferences question, add or remove options as per your choice.

      Other preferences
      Which department you want your mentor to be from? Option to add the department you want your mentor from.
      Which roles are you looking for your mentor to be in? Option to search for mentors in particular roles.
      Which timezones work best for you? Option to add appropriate timezones.
      Which locations work best for you? Option to add an appropriate location to meet with your mentor.
      What languages do you communicate in? Option to select preferred languages.
    7. Select Enroll.
      Note:
      You can also save your preferences by select Save as draft, if you are not ready to enroll as a mentee yet.

    Search and add skills

    As a mentee, search for a skill name or a keyword to find a mentor who specialises in that skill to help you.

    Enroll as a mentee. For more information, see Enroll as a mentor or mentee

    Role required: none

    Procedure

    1. On the mentee preferences wizard, answer the required questions.
    2. Use the Search skills option to add skills that a mentor can help you with.
    3. On the Search for more skills wizard, specify the proficiency level from one of the following using the slide bar.
      • Unrated
      • Novice
      • Intermediate
      • Advanced
      • Expert
    4. Select Add Skills.

    Result

    Selected skills are added to current skill preferences. You can go ahead and complete the mentee preferences wizard after adding skills.

    Add mentor preferences

    As a mentor, add your preferences to help mentees find out if you're the right match for them

    Before you begin

    Enroll as a mentee. For more information, see Enroll as a mentor or mentee

    Role required: none

    Procedure

    1. On the mentor preferences wizard, answer the required questions.
    2. Select Next.
    3. On the What are you looking for from your mentor? question, set preferences that will help you match with the right mentor.
      Note:
      Select at least one preference.

    6. Select Enroll.

      You can also save your preferences by select Save as draft, if you are not ready to enroll as a mentee yet.
