Create and manage a safety inspection

  • Create a safety inspection to manage your workplace inspection of a particular activity, process, or an area. Review the survey results and add findings, root cause analyses (RCA), and actions for the inspection.

    Role required: sn_hs_rm.safety_inspection_manager and sn_hs_rm.safety_inspection_writer

    About this task

    You can also set up an inspection schedule to create safety inspections. For more information, see Set up a safety inspection schedule.

    Procedure

    1. Navigate to All > Health and Safety > Health and Safety Workspace.
    2. Select the risk management icon (Risk assessment icon).
    3. Select the Inspections list and then All.
    4. Select New to create an inspection.
    5. On the form, fill in the fields.
      Enter details such as inspection format, survey to use for this inspection, risk matrix used for risk assessments for this inspection, and a due date to complete the survey inspection.

    6. Select Save.
      • The Inspection survey results, Findings and RCA, and Inspection actions tabs appear for this inspection.
      • The associated inspection survey is assigned for completion and appears in the Employee Center and Now Mobile app of the assigned user. The assigned user receives a notification about the inspection survey. For more information, see Complete a safety inspection survey.
    7. Optional: If needed, complete the inspection survey in the inspection record by selecting Open inspection survey.
      The Open inspection survey button appears only when Inspection format is set as Digital.
    8. In the Inspection survey results tab, review the survey responses.
      When completed, the survey results for this inspection are available in the Inspection survey results tab.
    9. In the Findings and RCA tab, work on the inspection findings, and perform an RCA for this inspection.
    10. If applicable, add actions for findings in the Inspection actions tab.
    11. Optional: In the Details tab, set the state to Closed Complete after all inspection activities are complete and then select Save.
      The inspection moves to the Closed Complete state.
