Get directions to a workplace

  • View the directions from one workplace location to another using the Workplace Service Delivery for Mobile.

    Before you begin

    The Workplace Space Mapping application must be installed.
    Note:
    The Get Directions option appears only if the workplace has a floor map defined and a map provider is selected as Indoor Mapping or Mappedin in Map Properties.

    Native mobile Indoor Mapping capabilities are dependent on the Tokyo family release.

    About this task

    Using the Workplace Service Delivery for Mobile, get directions for workplace from any of the following locations:
    • From your current or any location to a colleague's workplace directly. The workplace location of your colleague is fetched from their ongoing reservation or from their workplace profile.
    • From the My reservations page to get directions to a reserved workplace.
    Important:
    If the colleague has privacy enabled, then, you cannot view any of their details.

    Procedure

    1. On your mobile device, open the Now Mobile app.
    2. Note:
      When using the Now Mobile app, the privacy setting will apply for all spaces in the reservation.
      Use workplace floor maps to find and reserve a space within Workplace Service Delivery For more information, see Make a reservation using the Now Mobile app.
    3. To get direction to a colleague's workplace, perform the following steps:
      1. Type your colleague's name in the search bar.
      Use the search icon (Search bar icon.) in the home screen.
      1. Select your colleague's profile.
      2. On the profile page, select Get Directions.
        Note:
        If the colleague's profile is set as private, then the Get Directions option is not displayed.
    4. To get directions to a reserved workplace, perform the following steps:
      1. In the Workplace Reservations section, tap My reservations.
        You can also open the My reservations section by selecting the services icon (Services icon.).
      2. Select the reservation for which you want to get the direction.
      3. Optional: For a multi-location reservation, do the following:
        1. Select the Related reserved items tab.
        2. Select the reservation that was made on the location that you want to go to.
    5. Select Get directions from the reservation record summary.
      Enable indoor positioning or location provisioning on you mobile location settings for automatically enabling the blue dot experience in wayfinding for Indoor Mapping. For more information, about configuring and enabling indoor positioning from one destination to another in a workplace, see Configure a custom Map provider.
    6. Select your start and end location using the pointer if required, and close the map.
      The directions are displayed from the selected location to your colleague's workplace location. You can define directions from one building or floor to another building or floor. For example, get directions from Building A to Building B.
    7. Optional: To get directions from one space to another, perform the following actions on the map.
      1. Select a space and click Get directions to location.
      2. Set the start and end points for wayfinding navigation routes.
      3. Select direction modes as Default or Accessible.
        The map displays the navigation path between the selected spaces.
    8. Optional: To view the direction as steps, select View steps.
    9. Optional: Integrate with IndoorAtlas and Apple to determine the current location of the employee and show the current location of the employee on the mobile app.
      To enable indoor positioning, configure and customize your Indoor Mapping map provider properties. For more information, see Configure a custom Map provider.
      Note:
      Indoor positioning is available with Workplace Service Delivery Suite v1.7.
    10. Optional: To automatically determine the start location in wayfinding, select Start directions.
      Blue dot provides real-time location and navigation signs as you move in a given space.

    11. Optional: Use the zoom options on the map to get a closer view of the spaces.
    12. Optional: Sort the spaces in alphabetical order or by using the sort option in the card view.
    13. Optional: Filter the space based on space types using the filter option in the card view.
    14. Optional: To view a space on the floor, select the space from the card view or directly on the map.
      The map highlights the space.
    15. Optional: To search for a user, type the user's name or their location.
      The user details are displayed based on their desk reservation if there are any or will be displayed based on their workplace profile location.
    16. Optional: To submit a request related to a space, select Raise a general inquiry.

    Result

    The directions are displayed to the desired location.
