Use the ReadFromExcel component

  • Read the data from a Microsoft Excel file by using the ReadFromExcel component in RPA Desktop Design Studio.

    About this task

    You can configure the properties for the ReadFromExcel component. For more information about these properties, see Properties of the Data Reader components.

    Procedure

    1. In the Toolbox pane, navigate to Utilities > Data Reader.
    2. Drag the ReadFromExcel component to the Design surface.
    3. To configure the input fields, see Configure port properties.
    4. Connect the data and control ports of the ReadFromExcel component to the corresponding ports of the other components as described in the following table.

      Data In (Filepath) Path to the Excel file is passed from a previously executed component. Yes
      Data In (Sheetname) Name of the sheet in the Excel file is passed from a previously executed component. Yes.
      Data In (IsFirstRowHeader) Passes the Boolean response to whether the first row of the Excel sheet is a header from a previously executed component. No
      Data Out (Count) Passes the total number of rows containing data to the next component. No
      Data Out (Data) Passes the data to the next component. No
      Control In Connects to the Control Out port of one or more components. Yes
      Control Out Connects to the Control In port of any other component. No. Connecting the port is optional.
    5. Optional: To test the component, under the DESIGN tab, click Run.
