Create a quote

  • Create a quote in Quote Management to start the quote building process.

    Before you begin

    Role required: sales_agent

    About this task

    When you start a quote, a dialog box prompts you for quote information. You can choose to create a quote for a customer account or consumer. The dialog box changes depending on your choice.
    • Account – The quote is created for an existing customer account.
    • Consumer – The quote is created for an existing consumer.

    Procedure

    1. In the CSM Configurable Workspace, select the List List view icon. view.
    2. Navigate to Quotes > All and select New.
    3. In the Create new quote window, fill in the fields.
      ToDescription
      Create quote for an account Select the Account and enter the following:
      • Contact: Name of the primary customer contact.
      • Short description: Brief description of the quote for this account.
      • Expiration date: Date and time that the quote expires.
      Create quote for a consumer Select the Consumer name and enter the following:
      • Short description: Brief description of the quote for this consumer.
      • Expiration date: Date and time that the quote expires.
    4. You can either:
      1. Select Add Line Items to save the quote and continue adding products to the quote; or
      2. Select Save and close to add products at a later time.
        The quote is saved and you return to the Quotes list view.
    5. Select refresh to see the new quote in the list.

    What to do next

    Add and view details of a quote.

    The follow scenarios are possible when a user starts a quote:
    • The system defaults sales agreement on the quote to the latest active sales agreement available for the customer, if one exists.
    • The sales agreement can be changed or cleared when appropriate.
