Configuration Steps

Setting up the application involves several key tasks performed on the provider and consumer instances:

• Install Required Applications: Install Service Exchange for Providers, Service Exchange for Consumers, and Service Exchange Order Management for Providers from the ServiceNow Store. These provide the foundation for product sharing and order management across instances. (Admin role)
• Create Product Offerings and Service Specifications: On the provider instance, define product offerings and service specifications that will be published as remote catalog items available to consumers. (Product catalog admin or manager role)
• Associate Consumer Criteria: Link customer eligibility criteria to remote record producers to control which consumers can access specific offerings. This includes criteria for managing inventory. (Service Exchange provider admin role)
• Activate Remote Record Producers: On the consumer instance, activate entitlements for the remote record producers to enable ordering of the published products and services. (Service Exchange consumer admin role)
• Retire Remote Catalog Items: When needed, retire product offerings or service specifications to automatically remove them from the consumer’s catalog and disable the corresponding remote record producers. (Product catalog admin or manager role)
