ServiceNow provides Performance Analytics (PA) dashboards to help users visualize comprehensive data related to risk events and the risk hierarchy. These dashboards enable users to analyze trends and performance metrics over selected time periods using the Analytics Hub. By default, users with thesnrisk.managerrole can access data for the past six months. For extended historical data analysis, customers can purchase the Performance Analytics Premium plugin or run a specific historical data collection job within the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) framework.

Key Dashboards and Their Features
- Risk Event Overview Dashboard: Displays key trends such as gross loss, net loss, active and near-miss events, event types and states, and top entities by net loss and non-financial impact. Available in the Next Experience UI Framework starting with version 18.1.0, accessible under All > Risk Events > Analytics Overview.
- Risk Event Overview by Entity Dashboard: Designed for entity owners with the sn.riskuser role, showing aggregated monthly metrics including gross/net loss, event counts, average losses, recovery, and additional costs. Administrators with sn.riskadmin role can edit this dashboard. Available in the Next Experience UI Framework (version 18.1.0+), accessible under All > Risk Events > Analytics Overview by Entity.
- Risk Event Overview by Risk Class Dashboard: Enables users with the snrisk.manager role to analyze level 1 risk event trends, including losses, event counts, near misses, and the top 10 risk events by net loss. Available in the Next Experience UI Framework from version 18.1.0, located at All > Risk Events > Analytics Overview by Risk Class.
- Exposure by Risk Statements Dashboard: Useful for managers to view risks categorized by risk statements, tolerance status, ratings, and annual loss expectancy trends, including a heatmap of risk ratings by tolerance status. Note that this dashboard is deprecated starting version 18.1.0 but remains available for legacy users. Accessible via Risk > Exposure by Risk Statements.
- Exposure by Entity Dashboard: Intended for entity owners to monitor entity health status (unacceptable, needs attention, acceptable) and compare trends based on annual loss expectancy with risk rating heatmaps. Also deprecated as of version 18.1.0 but available for legacy use. Found under Risk > Exposure by Entity.
Practical Considerations for ServiceNow Customers
- To maximize data analysis capabilities, consider activating the Performance Analytics Premium plugin for extended historical data access beyond six months.
- Role assignments are critical: snrisk.manager for viewing broad risk event data, sn.riskuser for entity-specific insights, and sn.riskadmin for dashboard customization.
- Transition to the Next Experience UI Framework dashboards if using versions 18.1.0 or later (Xanadu release and newer) to leverage enhanced user interface and functionality.
- Use heatmaps and trend analyses within the dashboards to identify entities or risk statements requiring attention, thereby improving risk management focus and prioritization.
- Exercise caution when running the historical data collection job to prevent data inconsistencies.
