Create a blueprint

  • Create a blueprint to standardize product configurations and reduce setup time. Blueprints define the structure, behavior, and configuration experience for your product models, ensuring consistency across your catalog.

    About this task

    Blueprints serve as reusable templates that streamline product creation and ensure consistent configuration experiences. Use blueprints to define product hierarchies, set default values, and establish configuration rules that apply across multiple products.

    Procedure

    1. In the CPQ Admin navigation pane, select Blueprints.
      Blueprints option in the Admin navigation pane
    2. Select New.
      New button on the Blueprints page
    3. Complete the blueprint form.

      Field Description
      Name Unique identifier for the blueprint. Use a descriptive name that indicates the product type or category
      Description Brief explanation of the blueprint's purpose and the types of products it supports
      Variable Name Enter a variable name for the blueprint.
    4. Select Submit.
      The blueprint is created and appears in the Blueprints list.

    Result

    You can now use the blueprint as a template when creating new products. The blueprint ensures consistent configuration options and reduces manual setup time for similar products.
