Create an opportunity

  • Create a new product opportunity in the Opportunity Management application by entering the details, such as account, sales stage, sales cycle type, and deal size.

    Before you begin

    Role required: sales_agent

    Procedure

    1. In the CSM Configurable Workspace, select the List view.
    2. In the Opportunity - All list, select New.
      The Create new opportunity dialog box opens.
    3. Use the following table to fill in the information.
      FieldsDescription
      Short Description Fill in a short description for the opportunity.
      Estimated Deal Size Amount of potential opportunity.
      Account Provide account information.
      Consumer Select a consumer.
      Deal type Indicates the type of deal associated with the opportunity:
      • Direct: The seller engages directly with the customer, with no intermediary partner involved.
      • Indirect: The seller engages the customer through an intermediary, such as a reseller, service provider, or distributor.
      Stage Enter a stage of the opportunity. For example: Qualify, Develop, Propose, Negotiate, Closed- Won, or Closed- Lost.
      Route to market Identifies the exact sales channel used to execute the deal:
      • Direct
      • Reseller
      • Service Provider
      • Distributor
      Sales Cycle Type Enter the type of sales cycle during the creation of the opportunity. For example: NEWCUST, RENEW, or UPSELL.
      Contact Fill in the primary contact information associated with the opportunity.
      Channel partner An external organization involved in selling, influencing, or supporting an opportunity as part of an indirect sales.
    4. Select Save to save the opportunity and Close to return to the main Opportunities window.
    5. Select Refresh to see the new opportunity in the list.
