    Summary of Lifecycle management dashboard

The Lifecycle management dashboard in ServiceNow enables customers to review and track software products approaching or past their end of life (EOL) status within their asset estate. This helps reduce risks linked to unsupported or obsolete software by providing visibility into product life cycles and associated workflows.

Access to the dashboard requires activation of the Software Asset Management Professional plugin. Once enabled, the dashboard is available via Workspaces > Software Asset Workspace > Software asset analytics > Lifecycle management. Users can filter reports by publisher or product to focus on relevant software assets.

    Key Features

    • Product lifecycle overview: Displays detailed life-cycle phases of all installed software products to identify their current status.
    • Current and past EOL product lifecycles: Shows software lifecycles based on EOL timelines, covering data from the current year and the previous 15 years.
    • Upcoming EOL product lifecycles (next 18 months): Highlights software products that will reach EOL within the next 18 months, enabling proactive management.
    • EOL workflow status and actions: Tracks workflows grouped by stages (Open, Analysis, Action initiated, Completed, Cancelled) and by actions such as Pending, Remove EOL software, Upgrade, Purchase support, Move to Azure (Microsoft products only), and Accept risk. Note that Draft or Cancelled workflows are excluded from the action chart.

    Managing Risks and Actions

By tracking software life cycles through the dashboard and detailed Software Product Lifecycle reports, customers can manage risks associated with EOL, End of Support (EOS), or End of Extended Support software products. The dashboard allows creation of EOL workflow requests for software in phases like End of Support, End of Extended Support, or End of Life.

This capability supports informed decision-making to upgrade, remove, purchase support, migrate, or accept risk for EOL software, helping maintain security, compliance, and operational efficiency in your software asset management strategy.

Review and track the end of life (EOL) software products in your asset estate to reduce risks associated with software products that are reaching or have reached EOL.

The Lifecycle management dashboard displays reports on product life cycles, the current and past EOL product life cycles, and the upcoming EOL product life cycles for the next 18 months. You can also view EOL workflow status and workflow action.

    Note:
The Lifecycle management dashboard is only visible if you activate the Software Asset Management Professional plugin from ServiceNow Store.

Access the Lifecycle management dashboard by navigating to Workspaces > Software Asset Workspace > Software asset analytics > Lifecycle management.

You can filter the dashboard reports based on a publisher or product. Select any report to view more information on product life cycles.

Managing workflow to reduce risks associated with EOL software

Tracking product life cycles enables you to manage software products that are reaching or have already reached EOL, end of support (EOS), or end of extended support.

You can take required action for your EOL software products by using the Software Product Lifecycle report. The report opens when you select the Upcoming end of life product lifecycles in next 18 months or Current and past end of life product lifecycles report on the Lifecycle management dashboard. You can create an EOL request for the software products that have the Current phase as End of Support, End of Extended Support, or End of Life. For more details, see Create an end of life workflow request for your software products.
