Key Features
- Power (watts): Specify the electrical power consumption of the network asset.
- Weight (lbs): Enter the physical weight of the network asset.
- Virtual: Indicate if the network interface is virtual or physical. Selecting virtual hides the Connector Type field.
- Connector Type: Choose from various physical cable connector types such as BNC, SC, LC, ST, Wire Wrap, or RJ45, each representing common standards for network connections.
- Max physical connection support: Define the maximum number of physical connections the model supports.
- Port bandwidth: Select the bandwidth capacity of the network interface ports.
- Directionality: Specify the data flow direction of the network connection (Transmit, Receive, Transmit/Receive Bus, or Broadcast).
- Interface Type: Identify the port type — Ethernet, Optical, or Serial — to describe the physical and data transmission characteristics.
Practical Use for ServiceNow Customers
By filling out the Information tab accurately, customers can ensure their network interface models reflect real-world specifications, improving asset management and network planning. The fields guide users to capture critical technical details such as power usage, physical connectors, bandwidth, and data directionality, enabling precise configuration and integration within their broader IT infrastructure.
This detailed data supports effective tracking, compatibility assessment, and operational readiness of network assets managed via ServiceNow.
The information section in the model form enables you to create, review, and modify the details of a model.
