Important: Starting with the Washington DC release, DevOps Config is being prepared for future deprecation. It will no longer be installed on new instances but will remain supported on existing ones.

    Key Features

    • Unified Management: Search and navigate across component libraries and shared components quickly.
    • Application Usage Insight: View all applications using shared components within a library to understand dependencies.
    • Edit and Version Control: Edit configuration data, create and manage changesets for libraries and components, and handle publishing or unpublishing of component versions.
    • Role-Based Access:
      • CDM Admins: Can view and manage libraries and shared components.
      • CDM Editors: Can view and manage shared components within libraries.
      • CDM Viewers: Can view but not edit libraries and shared components.
    • Component Libraries List Pane: Filter libraries by category (all or editable), search by name, create new libraries, and select nodes to view or edit details.
    • Component Library Form: Manage metadata, availability status, and detailed information such as name, description, authoring groups, and associated applications. Access components, configuration data (with editor or list view), and activity logs of changesets.
    • Shared Component Form: Manage individual components with options to save changes, create changesets, refresh data, update descriptions, view application usage, and manage component versions including publishing controls.

    Practical Use for ServiceNow Customers

This unified view streamlines the administration of component libraries and shared components, supporting better governance and lifecycle management of reusable assets. Customers can efficiently track component usage across applications, maintain version control, and coordinate updates through changesets, reducing risk and improving consistency in DevOps processes.

Access to this workspace enables appropriate users to collaborate effectively based on their roles, ensuring controlled editing and transparent visibility into component configurations and changes.

The unified view of component libraries in the DevOps Config Workspace provides a single location to view and manage component libraries and the components within them.

    Important:
Starting with the Washington DC release, DevOps Config is being prepared for future deprecation. It will be hidden and no longer installed on new instances but will continue to be supported. For details, see the Deprecation Process [KB0867184] article in the Now Support Knowledge Base.
Using the unified view, you can:
    • Search for a component library or shared component.
    • Navigate quickly between different component libraries or shared components.
    • View a list of all applications that use shared components of a library.
    • Edit the config data of a library.
    • View and create changesets for the library and components.
    • View different versions of a shared component, and publish or unpublish them.

    Users

The following users can view and manage the component libraries and shared components in the DevOps Config Workspace.
