The ServiceNow®
Release Management application enables you to manage, plan, schedule, and control all aspects of hardware and software releases so that you can create a defined set of release components. Release Management is deprecated starting with the Xanadu release.

## Release Management highlights for the Xanadu release {#release-management-rn__release-management-rn-highlights}

The Digital Product Release application is the preferred application to track and manage the release processes of digital products.{#release-management-rn__release-management-rn-highlights-1}

## Deprecations {#release-management-rn__release-management-rn-deprecations}

Starting with the Xanadu release, Release Management v2 is being prepared for future deprecation. It will be hidden and no longer activated on new instances but will continue to be supported. Digital Product Release provides the latest experience for this functionality. ## Activation information {#release-management-rn__release-management-rn-activation}

Release Management is available with activation of the Release Management plugin (com.snc.release_management_v2).
