# Personalize the system time format

You can personalize the format in which time values appear in your
instance.

## Before you begin

An administrator must add the Time format field to the Self-Service view of the User form. For more information, see [Configuring the form layout](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/1phGIP6~lfwMUKKczOxN0Q#configure-form-layout "Administrators or users with the personalize_form role can configure the form and related list layout.").

## About this task

Personalizing the time format does not change global settings or impact the way other
users see time values.

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllSelf-ServiceMy Profile.
2. In the Time format field, select an option.
3. Click Update.
