# Rename an external content connector

Change the name of an existing external content connector.

## Before you begin

Ensure that the external content connector you want to rename is not currently running a crawl.

Role required: ais_admin

## Procedure

1. Use the application picker to switch to the External Content Connectors Admin application scope.
2. Navigate to AllExternal Content ConnectorsExternal Content Admin Home.
3. In the Connectors pane, find the record for the connector you want to deactivate or delete, and open its context menu in one of the following ways:
   * Select the connector record's Overflow icon ![]().
   * Right-select the connector record.

4. In the context menu, select Manage.  
   The connector's Configuration tab opens.
5. Select the pencil icon ![]().  
   The Rename connector dialog box appears.
6. Enter a new name for the connector, then select Save.
