# Enable mutual authentication

You can configure a SOAP or REST message for mutual authentication using a protocol
profile.

## Before you begin

Role required: web_service_admin or admin

## Procedure

1. Navigate to AllSystem Web ServicesOutboundSOAP Message or REST Message.
2. Select a message record.
3. Select the Use mutual authentication check box.
4. In the Protocol profile field, select a protocol profile configured for mutual authentication.
5. Click Update.
