    Dashboard Tabs and Stages

The dashboard is organized into tabs that correspond to the stages of CSDM implementation:

    • Foundation: Base data tables necessary for ServiceNow products and CMDB data.
    • Crawl: Focuses on base-system CMDB tables related to IT Service Management (ITSM).
    • Walk: Involves identifying and populating network infrastructure configuration items (CIs) and applications.
    • Run: Establishes relationships between technologies and business services.
    • Fly: Represents the completion of the CSDM implementation process.

    Managing Performance of Data Collection

The dashboard tracks three key CSDM metrics related to application services and business application relationships. To maintain performance, data collection may be paused when a specified threshold of non-compliant CIs is reached. For more details on managing data collection effectively, refer to the relevant management guidelines.

    Related Concepts

    Example

The reports on each tab display the data metrics that are appropriate for the maturity of your organization's CSDM implementation stage (foundation, crawl, walk, run, and fly). A label on each report identifies the metric being displayed.

In this example, a report on the Run tab indicates that several business service offerings don't have the required relationships to application services. With this knowledge, Service owners can add the relationships to ensure that customer service agents get complete information on the upstream impacts of applications that are down.

Run tab on the Data Foundations dashboard.

    Managing performance of data collection

The system runs scheduled jobs that collect data for three CSDM metrics:
    • App services that are missing a business app relationship
    • Business apps that are missing an app service relationship
    • App services where the relationship to business apps is not Consumed by
To ensure optimum performance, the system stops collecting data for some metrics when a specified number of non-compliant CIs is discovered. For information on managing data collection for a metric that isn't needed or that affects performance of the dashboard, see Manage performance.
