# Remove an equipment or shelf from a rack or cabinet {#ariaid-title1}

Remove an equipment or shelf from a rack or cabinet using design and assign function in the Telecommunications Network Inventory application. By removing the equipment from rack, you can fulfill a customer order request.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn_ni_core.inventory_agent

## Procedure

1. Navigate to WorkspacesNetwork Inventory Workspace.
2. Select the list icon (![List icon]()), and then go to ChangesAll.
3. Select the New button.
4. Select Remove Equipment/Shelf from Rack/Cabinet.
5. Select Next.  
   A change request is created.
6. On the Details tab, fill in the fields.  
   For a description of the field values, see [Change request and change task forms](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/7i_oMaHA5XQ1q3y1QnxBtg "The change request forms enable you to request a change.").
7. Select Save.  
   A change task is created.
8. Open the change task.
9. On the Task Attributes tab, fill in the fields.

   | Field | Description |
   |-|-|
   | Network Site | Network site or data center that contains the equipment or shelf that you want to remove. Note: The list only displays the sites that have a rack in it. |
   | Rack/Cabinet | Rack or cabinet name for the equipment that you want to remove. |
   | Equipment/Shelf | Equipment or shelf that you want to remove from the selected rack or cabinet. |

10. Select Submit.
