# Update a widget

Update a widget in the Visualization Library to modify its configuration or presentation. You can update attributes to refine how data appears in Findings dashboards and ensure that the visualizations stay relevant to your
reporting needs.

## Before you begin

Role required: admin

## Procedure

1. Navigate to Security Exposure ManagementAdministrationVisualization library.
2. Open the widget record to update.
3. Update any of the editable fields.  
   * For default widgets (User created = false), you can only:
     * Change Display order, or
     * Set Active to true or false

   * For custom widgets (User created = true), you can edit all the fields.

4. Select Update to save change.

## Result

The widget is updated in the Visualization Library and can be used when creating or editing dashboards.  
Note:  
* You can create or update widgets in the Findings view, but not in the Remediation overview page. Widgets in the Remediation overview are predefined and can't be created or edited. You can only change their display order or activate or deactivate them.
* Only the widgets marked Active = true appear for selection while creating a dashboard in the finding view.
