## Summary of Configuring AI skills and agentic workflows for ServiceNow Otto for Unified Security Exposure Management

This guide covers the configuration of AI skills and agentic workflows within ServiceNow Otto for Unified Security Exposure Management, focused on the Australia release version.

Note that Now Assist for Vulnerability Response is being deprecated and will not be installed on new instances but remains supported on existing ones. The guide also highlights important changes such as name updates, data sharing options, and role-based access controls for AI agents.

## Key Configuration Considerations

* **Licensing and Entitlements:** Access to AI skills, agentic workflows, and AI agents depends on your license tier. Review your product entitlements to confirm available features.
* **Role Masking and Security Controls:** AI agents require specific roles for user access. When configuring access for users with roles, update security controls accordingly to ensure proper authorization.
* **Data Sharing:** Sharing data with the ServiceNow AI development program helps improve AI accuracy and user experience. Customers can opt out of data sharing on each instance via the AI Admin Hub console if desired.
* **Configuration Tools:** Prior to version 1.0.4, generative AI skills are configured through AI Agent Studio. The AI Admin Hub console is used to activate entitled ServiceNow Otto applications and skills.
* **Plugin and Application Installation:** Install the ServiceNow Otto plugins and the ServiceNow Otto for Unified Security Exposure Management application (snvulai). Dependency applications update automatically with application upgrades.
* **Activation of Otto Panel:** The ServiceNow Otto panel, which provides a standard chat interface, must be activated as part of the setup.
* **Default Settings:** Some generative AI skills, AI agents, and agentic workflows are enabled by default. All agentic workflows and AI agent records are read-only by default; duplication is required to modify them.

## Important name changes and data sharing {#configuring-now-assist-for-vulnerability-response__cf-config-parent-checklist}

Starting with the Australia release, Now Assist for Vulnerability Response is being prepared for future deprecation. It will be hidden and no longer installed on new instances but will continue to be supported. For details, see the [Deprecation Process \[KB0867184\]](https://support.servicenow.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0867184) article in the Now Support Knowledge Base.

ServiceNow Otto® is the new AI experience brand. This change is reflected in the name of ServiceNow products, including the Now Assist for Vulnerability Response product name, which will be replaced with ServiceNow Otto for Unified Security Exposure Management. Your product entitlements remain unchanged. Check your entitlements to determine your access to specific features.

For a list of supported and required applications for ServiceNow Otto for Unified Security Exposure Management, see [Supporting information for Unified Security Exposure Management AI skills and agents](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/e7wez6rr27nHRBitBzkbZQ "Get an overview of the important information that is related to the USEM application.").

AI agents use [role masking](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=aia-role-masking&version=australia&pubname=australia-intelligent-experiences&ft:locale=en-US) to determine which users can access them. Ones installed with your applications have specific roles that come included with the application. If you select Users with specific roles for user access, you must configure the security controls to include these roles. For the instructions to change the security controls, see [Define security controls for an AI agent](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=define-sec-controls-aia&version=australia&pubname=australia-intelligent-experiences&ft:locale=en-US).

By sharing data with the ServiceNow® AI development program, you provide relevant data. You help improve prediction accuracy, user experience, tailor products to your business needs, and reduce hallucinations for your activated ServiceNow Otto® skills.

You can choose to opt out of a ServiceNow instance from data sharing from the AI Admin Hub console if you don't want to participate. For more information, see [Opt out of data sharing for Now Assist](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=opt-out-of-data-sharing-for-now-assist&version=australia&pubname=australia-intelligent-experiences&ft:locale=en-US). Repeat the opt-out process for all instances that use the ServiceNow Otto® functionality.

Prior to v1.0.4, use the AI Agent Studio to configure generative AI skills.

Use the AI Admin Hub console to activate the various ServiceNow Otto® applications and skills that you're entitled to. For additional information, see [Configuring Admin skills](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=configuring-na-landing&version=australia&pubname=australia-intelligent-experiences&ft:locale=en-US).
