The ServiceNow® Application Runtime Policy module enables optional, automatic generation of resource access policies for custom applications in development. See the following sections for release notes by
version.

## About Application Runtime Policy {#application-runtime-policy-rn__rn-application-runtime-policy-about}

* Enforce detailed controls over what resources an application in development can access at runtime.
* Automatically generate resource access policies while exercising application functionality.
* Review, approve, and modify generated access policies to verify intended resource access.
* For ServiceNow Store partner developers, reduce ServiceNow Store certification time through structured declarations of an application's runtime resource access.

### What's new {#application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09__application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09-new}

[Tracking and enforcing modes](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=arp-modes&version=brazil&pubname=brazil-application-development&ft:locale=en-US){#application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09__application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09-new-feature-1}
: Activate Application Runtime Policy for an application in development in tracking or enforcing mode. Tracking mode automatically approved generated policies, while enforcing mode requires review and approval for each
    generated policy.

[Automatic network policy generation](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=review-network-policy-arp&version=brazil&pubname=brazil-application-development&ft:locale=en-US){#application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09__application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09-new-feature-2}
: Review and approve or modify network policies that are automatically generated as you exercise application functionality.

[Cross-scope privilege policy generation](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=review-cross-scope-policy-arp&version=brazil&pubname=brazil-application-development&ft:locale=en-US){#application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09__application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09-new-feature-3}
: Review and approve or modify cross-scope privilege policies that are automatically generated as you exercise application functionality.

[Quota configuration generation](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=arp-quota-configurations&version=brazil&pubname=brazil-application-development&ft:locale=en-US){#application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09__application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09-new-feature-4}
: Review or modify the default application quota configurations generated by Application Runtime Policy, or create additional default quota configurations. Default quota configurations define limits on the resources that
    an application can use after installation.

[Segment policy creation](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=create-segment-policy-arp&version=brazil&pubname=brazil-application-development&ft:locale=en-US){#application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09__application-runtime-policy-rn-2026-09-new-feature-5}
: Create segment policies to enable broad categories of access when out-of-scope resources called at runtime can't be known during application development.
