# Configure language and region preferences

# Configure Next Experience language and region preferences {#ariaid-title1}

Configure Next Experience language and region preferences to achieve the UI that works best for you.

## Antes de Iniciar

Role required: admin

## Procedimento

1. Navigate to User MenuPreferencesLanguage \& Region.
2. Select the preferences that you want to configure.

   | Option | Description |

   | ![Date and time format.]() | Determines if and how to display the amount of time passed since a recorded date and time, and whether time is shown to the second. The options include: 1. YYYY-MM-DD 09:00:01 5 min ago 2. YYYY-MM-DD 09:00 5 min ago 3. YYYY-MM-DD 09:00:01 4. YYYY-MM-DD 09:00 5. 5 min ago {#next-experience-language-preferences__ol_inc_5v2_2sb} Nota: If you select YYYY-MM-DD 09:00 5 min ago or YYYY-MM-DD 09:00 for the current year, the current year (YYYY) will be omitted. The option 5 min ago refers to a relative time format that displays how much time has passed since a specific event has occurred instead of showing the date and time. Options that show date and time adhere to Date format and Time format options selected in your User record. Open your User record by navigating to User MenuProfile. For more information about setting date and time format, see [The User record](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=user&version=australia&pubname=australia-platform-administration&ft:locale=en-US). |
   | ![Timezone.]() | Determines the time zone or returns to the default time zone for the current session. Upon the next login, the time zone setting reverts to the system default, or user profile setting for time zone. |
   | ![Language.]() | Sets the language used for your instance when you have access to more than one language. This preference displays only if the language plugin is installed. For more information, see [Activate a language](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=t_ActivateALanguage&version=australia&pubname=australia-platform-administration&ft:locale=en-US). |
   | ![Country]() | Sets the country code used for your instance. When combined with a language selection, this preference sets the user locale, which affects default currency types and number formatting. |
