Google Monitor provides powerful monitoring, logging, and diagnostics. It equips you
with insight into the health, performance, and availability of cloud-powered applications,
enabling you to find and fix issues faster.

Google Monitor is natively integrated with Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, and
popular open source packages. Google Monitor provides a wide variety of metrics, dashboards,
alerting, log management, reporting, and tracing capabilities.

For an alert rule on a metric value, when the value of a specified metric crosses a threshold
assigned, the alert rule becomes active and sends a notification. For an alert rule on events, a
rule can send a notification on every event, or, only when a certain number of events happen.

## What does SR Ops offer Google Monitor

SR Ops has a webhook integration with Google
Monitor. Using the integration, Google Monitor sends incidents to SR Ops API with detailed information. SR Ops acts as a dispatcher for Google Monitor alerts,
determines the right people to notify based on on-call schedules-- notifies via email, text
messages (SMS), phone calls and iPhone \& Android push notifications, and escalates alerts
until the alert is acknowledged or closed.

## Functionality of the integration {#sro-google-monitor-integration__section_ihr_thm_h4b}

When an alert is created in Google Monitor, an alert is created in SR Ops automatically through the integration.

* When the state of a notification is open in Google Monitor, an alert is also created in SR Ops automatically through the integration.
* When the state of a notification is close in Google Monitor, the related alert is closed automatically.
* When the state of a notification is acknowledge in Google Monitor, the related alert is acknowledged automatically.
