Create a schedule baseline and financial baseline of a project. A baseline is a
snapshot of the project's progress at the particular moment of time.

## Antes de Iniciar

Role required: it_project_manager

## Por Que e Quando Desempenhar Esta Tarefa

Create as many baselines as necessary to review the changes made to and progress of
your project by comparing these baselines. Comparing baselines helps you understand
the real-time deviations between planned and actual values of the project tasks.
Nota:
If your project has sub projects in it, you cannot create baselines for them from the planning page view.

## Procedimento

1. Open a project from the home page of Project Workspace.
   For information, see [Access the new Project Workspace](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/3cBAbAZHwiU4ZyQiWnhLDg "Learn how to navigate to the new Project Workspace and open a project in the planning page.").
2. Create a baseline for the project.
   1. Select the Baselines icon (![Baselines option.]()).
   2. Select Create new.
   3. On the form, fill in the fields.
      Provide the name and description for the baseline, and select Schedule baseline or Financial baseline, or both.
   4. Select Save.

   A baseline is created for the current day and is listed when you select
   Baselines (![Baselines option.]()).
3. Compare baselines for the project.
   1. Select the Baselines icon (![Baselines option.]()).
   2. From the list of available baselines, select the ones that you want to compare.
      You can select up to two baselines.
   3. Select Apply.

   * On the timeline view, the baseline appears as a set of grey lines below the task bars. These grey lines represent the planned dates while the task bars represent the actual dates.
   * On the grid view, you can add the columns related to baselines that show the following information of the selected baselines. You can select these columns from the Settings side panel (![Settings icon.]())
     * Start date
     * End date
     * Variance

   If you don't see the baseline columns on the data grid, refresh the workspace using the Refresh icon ![Refresh project workspace.]().
