# Submit a Legal Hold Notification matter {#ariaid-title1}

Create a Legal Hold Notification matter to initiate the process of preserving the data related to the legal hold when the legal hold is issued.

## Antes de Iniciar

If the Legal Counsel Center application hasn't been previously installed, you must install it to start using Legal Hold Notification. For more information, see [Install Legal Counsel Center Workspace](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/epvAgQsJUsIUbWw~z9xhkA "You can install the Legal Counsel Center application (sn_lg_cf_workspace) if you have the admin role. The application installs ServiceNow Store applications and plugins if they are not already installed.").

Role required: sn_lg_hold.legal_hold_fulfiller or sn_lg_ops.legal_fulfiller

## Procedimento

1. Access the Legal Hold Notification matter intake form through either the Employee Center or the Legal Counsel Center.

2. On the Legal Hold Notification matter intake form, fill in the fields.  
   Nota:

3. Select Submit.

## Resultado

A Legal Hold Matter is created.

In the Legal Hold Matter page, under the Tasks tab, a task is created with the initial state set to Draft.

In the Custodians tab, the custodian details are added.
