Assign the legal user role to a custodian who is responsible for preserving data related to a legal hold.

## Antes de Iniciar

Role required: admin

## Procedimento

1. Navigate to AllUser AdministrationUsers.
2. Search for and select the target user.  
   If the user record does not exist, create it. For more information, see [Create a user](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=t_CreateAUser&version=australia&pubname=australia-platform-administration&ft:locale=en-US).
3. In the Roles related list, select Edit.
4. In the Collection list, search for and select the sn_lg_ops.legal_user role.
5. Add the user to the Roles list by selecting the right arrow icon (![Right arrow icon.]()) to add it to the Roles List.
6. Select Save.

## Resultado

The user is assigned as the legal user role and can be added as a custodian when issuing a legal hold notice.
