Use the Task activity timeline preset and controller to add the Timeline component as a standalone component on task record pages such as case or incident.
The timeline uses icons to display record events and colors to show ranges of time, such as when a case is with the agent or the customer. Agents can use the timeline in the following ways:

* Zoom in and out.
* Select the Show details toggle to display more information.
* Hover over the icons to show tool tips.

{#csm-record-page-timeline-component__ul_sfs_cbw_zgc}For more information about the timeline features, see [CSM Configurable Workspace form ribbon and components](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/UefoR~vT~8n4MIfqGi4Q8g "The form ribbon provides includes components that display relevant information about a case and provide agents with a quick overview of the case details. These components can include a contact or consumer summary, a timeline, and SLA details.").

The [Timeline component](https://horizon.servicenow.com/workspace/components/sn-component-timeline?release=zurich) is available in the UIB toolbox. This component displays activities for task-based records such as cases or incidents in a timeline view. It uses the resolution shaper configuration
to automatically fetch and organize your data.
To add the Timeline component to a record page as a standalone component, the admin can select the Task activity timeline preset and controller and complete the component configuration. For more information, see the following topics:
