Users can earn badges for achievements or areas of expertise within the community.
Gamification moderators manually assign badges to users.
Gamification includes several predefined badges. Each badge includes:

* A name
* An icon
* A brief description
{#gamification-components-badges__ul_cn5_nhc_jbb}

Gamification administrators and moderators can award badges to community users and also
remove badges. A badge can be awarded to a user one time. If a badge is removed from a user,
it can be awarded to that user again.

Earned badges are visible in the community portal in the [gamification user interface components](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/NJfJv_qc9w_8b6dyPJCWKQ "Gamification information appears on leaderboards, the user profile page, and content pages."). Community users can see earned badges and
available badges on their own user profile page in the Achievements tab.
