A product capability is the specific feature that a business application or a Technology Reference Model (TRM) product provides to support business objectives. Product capabilities are used to assess how well a business application or TRM product aligns with strategic goals and operational needs.

Product capabilities help in understanding what a business application or a TRM product can technically deliver. You can use these product capabilities to outline the specific technical
capabilities that the business application or TRM product provides.

While business capabilities describe what the organization needs, product capabilities describe how those needs are met through business applications or TRM products.

An attendance and payroll management business application is used to manage employee attendance, leave, and payroll processing. For this business application, some product capabilities can be:

* Payroll calculation: Computes salary based on attendance, leaves taken, and tax laws
* Compliance reporting: Generates reports for tax and labor lax compliance.
