Themes enable you to change the visual style of your UI Builder experiences so that they express the look and feel of your brand

## Getting started with themes {#manage-the-visual-style-of-ui-builder-experiences__section_khz_1yr_xnb}

By default, the Polaris theme is applied to UI Builder experiences. For more information, see [Working with themes in Next Experience](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=next-experience-theming&version=australia&pubname=australia-platform-user-interface&ft:locale=en-US).

## Create a new theme with Theme Builder {#manage-the-visual-style-of-ui-builder-experiences__section_s15_wq5_31c}

Theme Builder enables you to create, edit, manage, and apply Next Experience themes using a friendly visual interface. For more information, see [Configuring Next Experience with Theme Builder](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=configuring-next-experience-with-theme-builder&version=australia&pubname=australia-platform-user-interface&ft:locale=en-US).

## Create a custom theme {#manage-the-visual-style-of-ui-builder-experiences__section_mqs_xq5_31c}

If you are an admin user comfortable working in style records and JSON code, you can create a custom theme to override the default Polaris style. This option gives you the most control over typefaces, colors, and images (including the
banner and logo) in a theme. For more information, see [Configuring Next Experience themes and preferences](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=config-next-experience-themes-prefs&version=australia&pubname=australia-platform-user-interface&ft:locale=en-US).

## Working with dark theme {#manage-the-visual-style-of-ui-builder-experiences__section_djv_yq5_31c}

If you are interested in dark theme, see [Working with the dark theme](https://www.servicenow.com/docs/access?context=tb-working-in-dark-theme&version=australia&pubname=australia-platform-user-interface&ft:locale=en-US).

## Create custom style classes and rules {#manage-the-visual-style-of-ui-builder-experiences__section_agh_2dv_nfc}

Use style classes rules in UI Builder to apply custom visual styling to UI elements by referencing CSS classes, see [Create custom style classes and rules](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/ZPH7bnO3EBO1Vl_Q7l7~1Q "Use style classes rules in UI Builder to apply custom visual styling to UI elements by referencing CSS classes.").
* **[View experience theme](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/HeOW8zJ4f4YQdGXi48AI2g)**
  View the theme applied to your experience. The theme sets the visual style of the experience and provides a consistent look and feel across all pages.
* **[Create custom style classes and rules](https://servicenow-prod.fluidtopics.net/ZPH7bnO3EBO1Vl_Q7l7~1Q)**
  Use style classes rules in UI Builder to apply custom visual styling to UI elements by referencing CSS classes.
